Zero emission vehicles will be in the limelight on 15th June as part of the first National Clean Air Day being celebrated in the city. The bright sparks at The Environment Centre, Transition Southampton and Southampton City Council will be organising activities around the Bargate to raise awareness of pollution-free transport and ways to improve air quality. There will also be stalls in four locations around the City, at West Quay, Southampton General Hospital, St John’s Nursery and Primary School and Sure Start at Pickles Coppice.

The event will include a chance to look at the latest electric cars and bikes (including pedal), an opportunity to meet electric car and bike owners and hear about their experience, see the future of electric transport on the water, air quality monitoring at St John’s School relayed to West Quay, a lunchtime picnic on a closed road at St John’s, Bike Doctor, dance sessions and much more.
